Upper Captiva Island is located on the Southwest coast of Florida. The island is situated among the barrier islands of Sanibel, Captiva, Cayo Costa State Park, and Boca Grande, known for the world's best tarpon fishing. Upper Captiva is 4 miles long by 1/2 mile wide of which 2/3 of the island is a state park/bird sanctuary providing great shelling, bird watching, and walks along the beach.
Enjoy watching the dolphins play in the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Manatees, gopher turtles, otters, and numerous species of exotic birds, including osprey, make Upper Captiva their home.
This barrier island has unparalled charm with its fascinating wildlife, spectacular sunsets and pristine gulf beaches blanketed with colorful shells. You will find no cars or fast food restaurants.
